Officially coined "Punkin Days” this annual celebration in Floydada honors one of the area’s most unique crops, the pumpkin. The celebration of the harvest-time takes place every year on the 2nd Saturday of October; the Floydada Chamber of Commerce playing host to this nationally recognized event.
Over the years, the event has kicked-off Saturday morning on the county courthouse square in Downtown Floydada. Throughout the day, patrons enjoy a variety of Arts & Crafts booths, food booths, and any number of games and relay races—all of which feature our punkins.
Each year, additional activities are added, so that the festival now starts on Friday night with the BBQ Cook-off contestants seasoning their entries, and the Chili Cook-off contestants lined up for their start the next morning.Pumpkin Capital of Texas.
The 5K Run/Walk (Register online: firstname.lastname@example.org) begins early Saturday morning, and with the Lions’ Club Pancake Breakfast, the festival shifts into top gear. Classic Car Show, Library Book Sale, Cow Pattie Bingo (Yes, we have designated Punkin Days cows), a Punkin Pie eating contest, a costume contest for all ages, Rope-making at the Floyd County Historical Museum, punkin auctions, punkin decorating, and a host of games for all ages are only some of the events that will entertain the entire family.

Don’t assume that supper-time is the close of the event. Not at all! In Pumpkin Capital, USA we know how to do things right. Food vendors featuring a smorgasbord of culinary delights will be at your service. Grab a burger, a roasted corn-cob, the "best” funnel cake, and wash it all down with an old-time soda or mug of lemonade. Then sit back and enjoy the "Punkin Glow” showcasing decorative and carved punkins gathered on the courthouse steps. The evening culminates in a boot-scootin’ street dance on the square.
Bring the whole family out to enjoy a unique celebration of Punkins and harvest-time. There is something for everyone. To contact the Floydada Chamber of Commerce, email email@example.com.
